Texas Star Nut & Food Company Announces Voluntary Recall of Raw Peanuts.


March 16, 2009 -- Texas Star Nut & Food Company of Boerne, Texas, is recalling packages of Raw Peanuts because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled product contains peanuts supplied by Peanut Corporation of America, which has recently announced an expansion of a voluntary recall covering all peanut products manufactured and distributed from their Plainview, TX plant. Peanut Corporation of America is currently the focus of an ongoing investigation concerning the recent Salmonella outbreak.

The raw peanuts were distributed in Texas through retail grocery stores. The Texas Star Nut & Food Company product is packaged in 12 oz plastic bags with UPC code 8-32112-00410-4 with product code date: sell by Jan. 11, 2009 thru July 11, 2009. The sell by date appears in the clear box which includes the product name “Raw Peanuts”.

No illnesses associated with this product have been reported to date.
