Bainbridge, NY -- March 13, 2009 --- Diabetic Emporium and Confectionary Shoppe, Ltd of Bainbridge, NY, is recalling 8 oz. and 16 oz. packages of Diabetic Emporium Chocolate Covered Peanuts because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This action is a result of the PCA expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all peanut products manufactured in their Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007.
Diabetic Emporium Chocolate Covered Peanuts were distributed in NY, NJ, PA, and OH to retail stores. The product is packaged in cellophane bags with the Diabetic Emporium logo affixed to the bag. The 8 oz. bags bear Product # 1168 and the 16 oz. bags bear Product # 1169. There have been no reported illnesses to date.
Retail pharmacies that purchased Diabetic Emporium Chocolate Covered Peanuts should return the product immediately to the wholesale distributor for a full refund. Anyone with questions regarding this recalled product may contact the distributor at 1-800-333-0538, Monday – Friday from 8am - 3pm EDT.
