Just Desserts Initiates Nationwide Recall of 6" Peanut Butter Crème Cakes.


March 2, 2009 – Just Desserts of Oakland, CA is initiating a national recall of 6” Peanut Butter Crème cakes as a precautionary measure because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The following recalled product was sold nationwide through natural food grocers and mass market retailers:

Just Desserts Peanut Butter Crème Cake
6” – 27oz - UPC: 13609 01518

There are no reported illnesses associated with this product. Upon learning of the potential health hazard, Just Desserts immediately ceased distribution. We discontinued distribution of this product due to a nationwide recall by the Peanut Corporation of America. We may have received Salmonella contaminated product that was recalled by the Peanut Corporation of America.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to destroy it or return it to the store purchased for refund. Consumers with questions may contact Just Desserts at (510) 567- 2900, 8:30am – 5:00pm PST or online at www.justdesserts.com. Additionally, the peanuts used in this product were decorative in nature, and were applied after all production was complete. Under no circumstances did the affected peanuts come into contact with the machinery used to produce our cakes or other all natural desserts. Just Desserts has informed the FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
