Blue Heron Bakery Recalls Spelt Peanut Butter and Spelt Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and Mud Bay Trail Mix.



March 12, 2009 -- Blue Heron Bakery of Olympia Washington is recalling Spelt Peanut Butter and Spelt Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and Mud Bay Trail Mix, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products were manufactured using peanuts/peanut products recalled by Peanut Corporation of America because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Products were distributed at Blue Heron Bakery’s retail outlet and other retail outlets in Washington State.

This recall only affects products purchased prior to July 2008.

Spelt Peanut Butter and Spelt Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies were packaged in clear plastic bags of 5-6 cookies each (10-12oz), OR individually and unwrapped. Label contains the Product name, Blue Heron Bakery, and the ingredients.

Packages contain no additional Lot code or UPC code information.

Mud Bay Trail Mix was packaged in 12 oz clear plastic bags. Label contains the Product name, Blue Heron Bakery, and the ingredients. Packages contain no additional Lot Code of UPC code information.

No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the organic dry roasted split peanuts received from Glory Bee Foods was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. Blue Heron Bakery has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 360-866-2253 7am to 6pm 7 days a week.
