Roman Meal Company Initiates Nationwide Recall.




March 2, 2009 -- Roman Meal Company of Tacoma, Washington is recalling Roman Meal Whole Grain & Fruit Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Snack Bars, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The product was manufactured using peanut products recalled by Peanut Corporation of American because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Roman Meal Whole Grain & Fruit Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Snack Bars were distributed at retail stores in Iowa and California. Also, bars were sold directly nationwide to consumers over the internet.

* Roman Meal Whole Grain & Fruit Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Snack Bars are packaged in a plastic wrapper approximately 2 ½” X 6”. The predominant color of the package is brown. The net weight of the bar is 2 oz. The affected lot code “Best Before 22JUN09A” is on the back of the wrapper, in the lower right corner. The UPC code is 41511 16002.
* A retail caddy contains 12 such bars in a paper display box. The color and graphics of the display caddy are identical to that of the 2 oz. bar wrapper. Internet purchasers typically received product in the display caddy. The affected lot code “Best Before 22JUN09A” is on the right side of the display caddy. The UPC code is 41511 16102.

The only lot code affected by this recall is “Best Before 22JUN09A”. No Roman Meal Whole Grain & Fruit Snack Bar flavor, other than Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, is affected by this recall. There have been no reported illnesses associated with this product.
