Fritz Company Inc. Announces a Nationwide Voluntary Recall.


Newport, MN (March 4, 2009) – Fritz Company Inc. is voluntarily recalling the following item because it has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella:

Fritzie Fresh Chocolate Peanuts -- 8.0 oz Bags UPC 076056 03820
The only packages concerned have date codes of 08364.
The date code is shown on the back of the bag adjacent to the UPC code.

These products were shipped to retail locations in MN, WI, IA, MO, ND, SD, MT.

Fritz Company Inc. initiated the voluntary recall because this product used peanuts sourced from Peanut Corporation of America’s (PCA), Blakely, Georgia facility. This PCA facility is the subject of an investigation by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) concerning a recent Salmonella outbreak.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Fritz Company Inc. has not received any consumer illness complaints associated with its products. However, it is taking precautionary steps, including removing the impacted products from retail store shelves and the entire distribution system.
