Sheridan Fruit Company Recalls Bulk Roasted/Salted, Roasted/No Salt, and Raw Blanched Shelled Peanuts Nationwide.

March 5, 2009 -- Sheridan Fruit Company, Inc. of Portland, Oregon is recalling all bulk blanched roasted & salted, blanched roasted no salt, and blanched raw peanuts sold between 01/01/07 and 02/13/09 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Bulk blanched roasted & salted, blanched roasted no salt, and blanched raw peanuts were sold in bulk scoop bins in the Sheridan Fruit Company retail location, as well as delivered to restaurants in Oregon and Washington.

The product was sold loose through bulk scoop bins labeled as:

“Roasted Salted Blanched Peanuts” – Bin #940
“Roasted No Salt Blanched Peanuts - Bin #959
“Raw Blanched Peanuts” Bin – Bin #941

No other UPC or specific lot code information.

Products delivered to restaurants were labeled as Bulk Roasted Salted Blanched Peanuts, Bulk Roasted No Salt Blanched Peanuts, or Bulk Raw Blanched Peanuts. There was no other UPC or specific lot code information. All products were sold between 01/01/07 and 02/13/09.

No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the peanuts sold by Sheridan Fruit Company. Sheridan Fruit Company has informed FDA of its actions and if fully cooperating with the Agency.

Consumers who have purchased Bulk Roasted/Salted Blanched Peanuts, Bulk Roasted No Salt Blanched Peanuts, or Bulk Raw Blanched Peanuts are urged to destroy the products or may return the product for a refund to Sheridan Fruit Company, 409 SE MLK Jr. Blvd, Portland, OR 97214.
