Mountain Man Nut and Fruit Co. Recalls In Shell Roasted and Salted Pistachios.

April 8, 2009 -- Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co. of Salem, Oregon is recalling In Shell Roasted and Salted Pistachios, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The product was manufactured using pistachios recalled by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

This product was sold in the State of Oregon where the product was distributed and sold both through direct delivery and in some retail locations. The recall covers product sold from October 2008 through April 8, 2009.

The product was sold in Poly and Plastic Bags in 16 oz. and 3.28 oz. sizes and was labeled under the Mountain Man name. The name on the product is simply “Pistachios”. The product does not contain any UPC or lot codes.

No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product/these products. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the pistachio product received was manufactured using pistachios from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. Mountain Man Nut & Fruit has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.

Consumers who have purchased Mountain Man Pistachios are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-877-393-3136 Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
