Freshdirect Recalls Pistachio Products Because Of Possible Health Risk.

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. – April 10, 2009 --- Following the recently expanded recall of Setton Pistachio products, FreshDirect of Long Island City, NY is voluntarily recalling all FreshDirect Salted and Unsalted Pistachios sold by FreshDirect on or after November 11, 2008. FreshDirect’s pistachio supplier sources from multiple California pistachio growers. From November 11, 2008 until recently, our supplier sourced a portion of its pistachios from Setton Pistachio in California, which have been recalled by Setton as they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The following products were distributed in plastic bags and sold directly to consumers in the New York City metropolitan area:

* FreshDirect SALTED PISTACHIOS, NET WT. 10 OZ. (283g), Product Code FD0300901680
* FreshDirect UNSALTED PISTACHIOS, NET WT. 10 OZ. (283g), Product Code FD0300901681

While no illnesses have been reported to date, FreshDirect has ceased distribution of these products until further notice.

Because of our comprehensive customer transaction data, FreshDirect has the unique ability to know and to contact everyone who has ever purchased its products. We have identified customers who purchased the affected products and immediately contacted them. We informed them of the recall and the steps they should take.

Consumers who have questions about the above recall may contact FreshDirect Customer Service at service@freshdirect.com or (212) 796-8002.
