Publix Issues Voluntary Recall on Pistachios.

Lakeland, FL -- April 1, 2009 --- Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall on all 6 oz packages of Publix Pistachios with a UPC # of 41415-04033.. These products may contain pistachios from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc., who are currently recalling pistachios due to potential contamination with Salmonella.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves," said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations manager. "To date, there have no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the pistachios to their local store for a full refund. Fritz Company Inc. Announces a Nationwide Voluntary Recall Because of Possible Health Risk.

Newport, MN (April 1, 2009) – Fritz Company Inc. is voluntarily recalling the following item because it has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella:

Fritzie Fresh Natural Pistachios -- 4.0 oz Bags UPC 076056 09460
The only packages concerned have date codes of 08361.
The date code is shown on the back of the bag adjacent to the UPC code.

These products were shipped to retail locations in MN, WI, IA, MO, ND, SD, MT.

Fritz Company Inc. initiated the voluntary recall because this product used pistachios sourced from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc., who voluntary recalled certain pistachio products on March 31, 2009.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Fritz Company Inc. has not received any consumer illness complaints associated with its products. However, it is taking precautionary steps, including removing the impacted products from retail store shelves and the entire distribution system.

Kroger Recalls Lite Mayo Due to Possible Health Risk.

Cincinnati, OH -- March 31, 2009 --- The Kroger Co. said today it is recalling Kroger Lite Mayo in 32-ounce plastic jars with a “Sell by” date of SEP-25-09 sold in Kroger stores in Southwestern Ohio, including Cincinnati and Dayton, and in Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.

Kroger is recalling the following item: - Kroger Lite Mayo sold in 32-ounce jars with a “Sell by” date of SEP-25-09 under the following UPC Code: 11110 66090.

Customers who have purchased the above product should not consume it and should return it to a store for a full refund or replacement.

Unified Grocers Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk and Soy in Mariegold Baking Bread Products.

(COMMERCE, CA) -- April 1, 2009 -- Unified Grocers is recalling six Mariegold Baking bread products (units) because they may contain undeclared milk and soy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or soy may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Mariegold Baking breads are distributed by Unified Grocers and other distributors to select independently-owned and operated retail grocery stores in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.

All code dates prior to Apr. 09, 2009 are affected by this recall. (The product’s code date can be found on the plastic tab that is used to “close” the bag.)

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that certain Mariegold Baking breads were distributed in packaging that omitted milk and soy from the ingredient statement. Products that bear code dates of Apr. 09, 2009 or later are not affected by this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Frito-Lay Issues Nationwide Voluntary Recall of In-Shell Pistachio Nuts Due to Possible Health Risk.

PLANO, TX (March 31, 2009) – Frito-Lay announced the voluntary recall of Frito-Lay branded in-shell salted pistachios due to potential contamination with salmonella. Frito-Lay has received no reports of illness related to this product; the company is issuing this recall as a precaution.

The affected product is 1.75 oz. packages of Frito-Lay branded Salted Pistachios (in shell) with sell-by dates between 14-Jul-09 through 29-Dec-09 and the UPC code: 0 28400 03888 1. The date is located on the front of each package.

No other code date, package size or flavor is impacted. This is the only Frito-Lay product impacted by this recall. This voluntary recall is not related to the recent peanut/ peanut butter recalls.

This product has been distributed to retail stores in the United States and Canada. The pistachios used in this product were supplied by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc., which yesterday announced a recall of selected lots of pistachios. Setton Pistachio is recalling pistachios from the 2008 crop year.
