Maeco Foods Recalls Peanut Meal.

March 31, 2009 -- Maeco Foods of College Point, New York is recalling its 8 oz. packages of PEANUT MEAL, because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This action is a result of the PCA expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all peanut products manufactured in their Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007. Maeco Foods received the peanut meal from PCA.

The peanut meal was repacked into consumer size packages which were distributed to retail stores in the New York City area.

The peanut meal is packaged in clear, plastic bags with a net weight of 8 OZ., and bears the Maeco Foods logo. The product has a UPC code of 8 17855 64240 4 and no other coding. The firm has ceased distribution of the peanut meal.

Maeco Foods is not aware of any complaints or reports of illness involving the peanut meal subject to this recall.

Maeco Foods is notifying retail customers that received the recalled peanut meal by phone or in person. Customers should segregate, hold, and return the product to the Maeco Foods for a full refund. Kraft Foods Conducts Nationwide Recall of Planters and Back to Nature Products Containing Pistachio Nuts.

Kraft Foods announced today a voluntary recall in the United States of Planters and Back to Nature products containing pistachio nuts that have the potential to be contaminated with the Salmonella organism.

The company is recalling all products containing pistachios supplied by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. after September 1, 2008. Setton Pistachio issued a recall late yesterday.

A list of affected products and code dates is attached and available on kraftfoodscompany.com. Consumers should not eat these products and discard any products they may have. Consumers can contact the company at 1-800-310-3704 with any questions.

This recall covers only Planters and Back to Nature products that contain pistachios. No other Planters, Back to Nature or Kraft products are affected by this recall.

There have been no cases of Salmonellosis reported to date in connection with these products and the company is issuing this recall as a precaution. These products were distributed to retail stores nationwide.

Union International Food Co. is Recalling Lian How Brand Spices and Uncle Chen's Brand White Pepper and Black Pepper.

March 30, 2009 -- Union International Food Co. of Union City, CA is recalling 15-pound. and smaller size packages of the Lian How brand spices (a complete list of the products and sizes is attached) and Uncle Chen brand white pepper & black pepper (whole and ground) in 5oz. retail containers, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Officials investigating a multi-state Salmonella outbreak isolated Salmonella from an open container of Lian How White Pepper, which was found at a restaurant where some outbreak victims ate. Union International Food Co. is making every possible effort to protect our customers and the consuming public. We have discussed the matter with the California Department of Public Health and agreed to initiate a recall.

The Lian How brand spices are distributed in the states of California, Oregon and Washington to wholesalers, distributors, restaurant suppliers and restaurants. The Lian How brand products are packaged in 10 or 15lbs. boxes with plastic liners, 5-pound plastic jars or 5-pound plastic bags (and 2.2 pound foil bags of Wasabi powder). The Lian How brand products are not generally sold directly to the retail consumer. The Uncle Chen brand white & black pepper products (whole or ground) are sold at retail in 5oz. containers.

Whole Foods Market Issues Nationwide Voluntary Recall of In-Shell Pistachio Nuts Due to Possible Health Risk.

Austin, TX (April 1, 2009) – Whole Foods Market announced the voluntary recall of its 365 Everyday Value brand in-shell Dry Roasted and Salted Pistachios due to potential salmonella contamination. Whole Foods Market has received no reports of illness related to this product; the company is issuing this recall as a precaution.

The affected product is 16 oz. packages of 365 Everyday Value brand Dry Roasted and Salted Pistachios with Best Before dates of 07/08/2009 GL1, 07/08/2009 GL2, and 11/27/2009 GL1 and a Universal Product Code (UPC) of 99482-40435.

No other code date, package size or flavor of pistachio product is affected. This is the only 365 Everyday Value product affected by this recall. This voluntary recall is not related to the recent peanut/ peanut butter recalls.

This product has been distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in the United States. The pistachios used in this product were supplied by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc., which yesterday announced a recall of selected lots of pistachios. Setton Pistachio is recalling pistachios from the 2008 crop year.

Kar's Nuts issues voluntary recall of products containing pistachio nuts supplied by California company.

MADISON HEIGHTS, MI -- March 31, 2009 The Kar's Nuts company a voluntary recall of products containing pistachios supplied by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Calif., after September 1, 2008. Setton Pistachio issued a recall late yesterday.

The products involved in the recall are Kar's Nuts and Second Nature products containing pistachio nuts that may have the potential to be contaminated with the Salmonella organism. This potential contamination is not connected with the recent outbreak associated with peanuts or peanut butter.
